  • Which 1.8T engine do I need to source for the conversion?

    • Our conversions use the Volkswagen/ Audi 1.8T 058 Base block. It was available in the Audi A4 from 1997-1999 and Volkswagen Passat from 1998-1999


  • Can I use an 06A 1.8T engine?

    • No, the 06A’s chain driven oil pump extends the total length of the engine.


  • Do I need a stand alone engine management system?

    • No, the 1.8T conversion allows the use of the factory AEB engine harness and ECU with full OB2 capability, however wiring modification is necessary and ECU tuning is strongly suggested.

    • Stand alone engine management systems are highly beneficial for full out track builds.


  • Which models does the engine installation kit and subframe/ engine mount kit fit?

    • Our Engine Installation Kit and Engine Mount Kit WILL fit the following Porsche models. (MANUAL GEARBOX ONLY!)

      • 1983-1989 Naturally Aspirated 944 (2.5L)

      • 1987-1988 924S

      • 944S

      • 944 Turbo

      • 944S2

    ***The 944T/944S2 require a naturally aspirated 944 bell housing, and starter ring. (Retains factory Porsche 5 speed transmission, torque tube, clutch hydraulics, and starter)


    • This kit will NOT fit:

      • 1977-1982 924 (2.0L) - however, we make a 924 subframe that is special order. Please call us to reserve one for your project… please note, the 1977 - 1982 924 requires the use of a 944 normally aspirated torque tube, bell housing, starter ring, and gearbox (manual) .

  • Will there be more components available?

    • Yes, we offer all of the components that we use on our builds and we also offer various, unlisted, made to order items! Give us a call to discuss the details of your conversion.

  • Do you ship internationally?

    • No, we are currently only shipping to the 48 US contiguous states.

  • When will my items be shipped?

    • Items will typically ship in 6-8 weeks from order date. Some made to order items may have extended lead times.

  • Will this work on my automatic 944/924S

    • No, our 1.8T Installation/Mount kit will ONLY fit models with MANUAL GEARBOXES!

  • How well do the 944 normally aspirated transmissions hold up to this power?

    • We have had great success over the last 8 years with the 944 normally aspirated transmission in our track builds that are running up to 320WHP. We also offer a Cayman gearbox conversion for those who are looking for a more modern cable shift at higher hp (good to about 500WHP).

  • Is the factory 1.8T wiring harness and engine management system plug and play to my 944?

    • No, Additional wiring will be necessary to integrate the 1.8T engine electronics with the 944 electrical system and is NOT plug and play.

  • Will the subframe affect factory ride height?

    • No, however the lower control arm mounts in the subframe are slotted to allow for adjustments to correct suspension geometry if the car is lowered.

  • Will there be any fabrication necessary to complete the conversion?

    • Yes, additional fabrication will be necessary to complete the conversion. You can reach out to us directly at 770 886-0686 to discuss the details of your project.

  • Can I keep the factory brake booster?

    • Although the factory brake booster can be utilized with a custom intake manifold, or booster modifications… the use of the intake listed on our products page requires the brake booster to be removed, which is more beneficial for spirited driving and track use.

    • Brake booster delete kit is available.

  • Will the factory A/C and heating system work with this conversion?

    • The 1.8T engine conversion was developed for track use… there is no a/c or heat supported for this conversion. However, aftermarket systems may be an option, but would need to be researched and developed by the end user.
